JRuby Running with Mysql On Ubuntu Linux System
===============================================

For Mysql installation on Ubuntu

> sudo apt-get install mysql-server mysql-client libhtml-template-perl mailx dbishell libcompress-zlib-perl mysql-doc-5.0 tinyca

Then install Ant and JDK

> sudo apt-get install ant sun-java6-jdk

Then install Jruby

> wget http://dist.codehaus.org/jruby/jruby-bin-1.1.4.tar.gz
> tar xvfz jruby-bin-1.1.4.tar.gz
> ln -s jruby-1.1.4 jruby

after that export the JRuby path to your HOME path

> export PATH=$PATH:$HOME/software/jruby/bin

Then install the rails version required by jruby

> jruby -S gem install jruby-openssl
> jruby -S gem install rails

Then install the database adapter for your ActiveRecord

> jruby -S gem install activerecord-jdbc-adapter activerecord-jdbcmysql-adapter

That's it. now create one rails application with JRuby

> jruby -S rails sample -d mysql

>cd sample

then generate required controllers

> jruby script/generate controller users index

then configuring your database config/database.yml

development:
adapter: jdbcmysql
encoding: utf8
database: sample_development
username: root
password: database
socket: /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

after that create the database by using rake command

> jruby -S rake db:create:all
> jruby -S rake db:migrate

then run the server

> jruby script/server
